AGM 2018 Wuhan, China
Stepping into 2017,
We are witnesses of God’s glory, both in the sense of seeing what He is doing and telling people about what He has done. Through God’s leading and provision, it has been nearly three years since we have moved to Wuhan. We are thankful to God for His safe-keeping and showing us in many ways how He is so real in our lives. We are also thankful for your prayer support and being in touch with us. We have been experiencing again and again God’s faithfulness over us and we know that this is the city that God wants us to be in this particular season. 2016 has been a year of good harvest as we see individuals come to faith.
One amazing story in particular which I would like to share more is about Mr. and Mrs. T, and their daughter, XT, aged six. The little daughter had been attending a local like-minded kindergarten and had come to faith a year ago. In August, the family had been on holiday in Sabah, and due to the unfamiliarity of the driving conditions, ended up driving on the wrong side of the road. This resulted in a head-on collision with an oncoming truck.
The car was a total loss, but amazingly, they survived, and their daughter emerged unhurt from the incident. However, both mum and dad were seriously injured and needed to be hospitalized. They contacted a friend back in Wuhan, who put them in touch with a Malaysian like-minded brother. He immediately mobilized his network to provide care for the couple and childcare for the little girl.
The couple were overwhelmed by the love shown to them and were convinced that it had been their daughter’s God that had protected them. Shortly after this incident, they both came to faith. To God be the glory.
Move, Open doors, and Favour
In July, we moved apartments to be nearer to our school. It had been an extremely quick turnaround, but we are thankful for our local like-minded friends from the local kindergarten who helped us move.
We received the keys to our new apartment on Friday evening, and over the weekend, they came over to help us clean-up the house, move, and paint the place. As a result, we were able to move in on Monday morning. We see his hand of provision on us as He provided many people to support us in what we are doing. Continue to pray for these like-minded believers, for favour with the authorities.
We are thankful for the many opportunities that we have been able to witness what God is doing. We see open doors and enjoy much favour in the various area of the work. At the same time, we are thankful that we have been able to establish good relationships with the people we work with. Currently, we continue to work with various groups of people from students to school colleagues, parents, mothers’ groups, neighbours and local kindergarten teachers. God has put so many people in our paths and we are glad for these opportunities to share more about Him.
Looking ahead to the Harvest
As we move into 2018, the verse that the Lord has put on our hearts is,
Joshua 1:6 “Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.” We are believing for 2018 to be a year of reclaiming territory which had been lost.
Do continue to pray that 2018 will be a year of great harvest.
With a grateful heart,
Samuel and Shirley
